PERPETUAL SNAPS THREE-GAME LOSING SLUMP TO END ELIMINATION ROUND
PERPETUAL Help will be entering the NCAA Season 101 men’s basketball quarterfinals without any lack of momentum.
The Altas made easy work of Lyceum, 72-57, at San Juan Arena on Sunday to end the elimination round on a high note.
Aside from that, Perpetual also snapped its three-game losing streak to finish the eliminations with a 9-4 record as the top seed of Group A.
“I told them to treat this game like a Playoffs game and I told them to know what we’re preparing for and I think they did that in this game,” coach Olsen Racela said.
“We had time to work on what we needed to improve. We were hitting shots but more importantly, we were moving the ball.”
The Altas will be watching Tuesday’s double-header intently as Jose Rizal University and Emilio Aguinaldo College duke it out for Group B’s last bus ticket to the quarters.
Mark Gojo Cruz led the Altas anew with 10 points, seven rebounds and three assists. The troika of John Abis, JP Boral and Juan Tulabut all scored nine points each in the win.
John Barba dropped 13 points, seven rebounds and three assists but to no avail as the Pirates ended their eliminations with a 3-10 record.
Lyceum will take on San Sebastian (3-10) in the play-in for Group A’s fourth seed, also on Tuesday. Should the Pirates win, they will take on San Beda in the quarters.
