SENATOR SEEKS JUSTICE FOR SLAIN PRINCIPAL IN COTABATO, URGES STRONGER SCHOOL SECURITY
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian condemned the killing of a school principal in Midsayap, Cotabato, and urged authorities to swiftly bring the perpetrators to justice.
“I am deeply alarmed that acts of violence in our schools are getting out of hand,” Gatchalian said, lamenting the death of the principal, who was shot by unidentified assailants earlier in the day.
“I strongly condemn this act of violence and join the call for justice at the soonest possible time,” he added.
The senator called on law enforcement agencies to intensify efforts to track down and apprehend the gunmen, stressing that they must be held accountable for their “ghastly crimes.”
As chairman of the Senate Committee on Finance, Gatchalian also vowed to push for adequate funding to bolster the safety and protection of schools nationwide.
“This tragedy is a stark reminder that our schools must be sanctuaries of learning, not places of fear. We need stronger measures to safeguard our teachers, students, and school personnel,” he said.
