154 PASS SHARIAH BAR EXAMS

26 July 2025

THE SUPREME Court on Friday announced that 154 out of 629 examinees, or 24.48 percent, passed the first fully digitalized special exams for the Shari’ah Bar.

Associate Justice Antonio Kho Jr., this year’s Shari’ah Bar chairperson of the 2025 Shari’ah Special Bar Examinations (SSBE), announced the results of the exams held on May 25 and 28.

The oath-taking for the Shari’ah Bar Exam passers will be on Aug. 6.

The list of successful examinees can be viewed online through the SC’s official channels.

The exams were conducted across four local testing centers in the Philippines: University of the Philippines Diliman, Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, Ateneo de Davao University, and Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

The 2025 SSBE Examiners were Dean Abdulcader Ayo (Jurisprudence and Customary Laws); Dr. Hamid Aminodin Barra (Persons, Family Relations, and Property); Dr. Jamel Cayamodin (Succession, Wills/Adjudication, and Settlement of Estates); and Attorney Melchor Sadain (Procedure in the Shari’ah Courts).

Shari’ah courts, which are under the administrative supervision of the SC, handle cases involving Muslim customary and personal laws, and exclude criminal law.

There are eight Shari’ah District Courts in the Philippines, six of which are in Mindanao. (PNA)
