LAWMAKER TO CTU STUDENTS: BE AMBASSADORS OF YOUR CAMPUS

/ 10 July 2025

SENATOR Alan Peter Cayetano urged students of Cebu Technological University (CTU) to be ambassadors for their campus, encouraging them to use social media to highlight the school’s needs and draw potential support from private individuals and companies.

During his visit to CTU, Cayetano said that spotlighting issues such as lack of facilities could catch the attention of those willing to help, despite limited government resources.

“The reality is, the louder you are, mas marami talagang mag-rereact at manunood. But it does give you a platform,” he said.

He encouraged students to share stories, achievements, and challenges from their campus, noting that these efforts could attract philanthropic support from corporations and private donors.

“If you can creatively raise awareness, I believe many wealthy individuals and companies would be willing to match your efforts. The question is: how do you get their attention?” Cayetano said.

With CTU’s over 80,000 students across 28 campuses, Cayetano said a unified effort to spread awareness could go viral and bring meaningful change.

“The best ambassadors are the students. If 80,000 students post something, wouldn’t that go viral? People love to help those who help themselves. With so many seeking aid, we’re really motivated when we see genuine effort,” he said.

He encouraged students to keep doing their best, saying even simple efforts in robotics, computers, or electronics can inspire others to help.

“Just keep doing what you’re doing—whether in robotics, computers, or electronics. Then, when opportunities arise, support will come,” he said.
