TP SUPPORTS DEPED’S LITERACY CAMPAIGN
TP, a global leader in digital business services, successfully participated in the 2025 Brigada Eskwela Program—an annual initiative of the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes various sectors, organizations, and individuals to help ensure that public schools are safe, resilient, and well-equipped for the upcoming school year.
With literacy as a key priority, this year’s theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa,” highlights DepEd’s nationwide campaign to advance literacy development. Through its corporate social responsibility arm, Citizen of the World (COTW), TP in the Philippines has been a consistent supporter of Brigada Eskwela—demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to improving school facilities and resources, as well as promoting volunteerism and community engagement.
On the same day, 216 volunteers from nine TP sites visited their adopted schools to participate in TP Dreambuilder, the company’s contribution to the 2025 Brigada Eskwela.
Employees collectively expressed their support through volunteer service in nine schools across the country:
Brookspoint Elementary School in Baguio City, Benguet
Leoncia Village Integrated School in Angeles City, Pampanga
Bambang Elementary School in Pasig City
Molino Elementary School in Bacoor City, Cavite
Sum-Ag Elementary School in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental
Iba Elementary School in Talisay City, Cebu
Pagalungan National High School in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental
Bunawan Aplaya Elementary School in Davao City, Davao del Sur
Jose Divinagracia, Sr. Elementary School in General Santos City, South Cotabato
The volunteers embodied the spirit of bayanihan (mutual assistance), showing remarkable dedication by being physically present and hands-on in refurbishing school facilities. Their efforts included clean-up and repainting, minor to medium repairs, and general maintenance of classrooms and school grounds—contributing a total of 1,080 hours of volunteer work.
“While the project may look like work, it’s actually very fun and rewarding—it’s fun because you get to do it with our leaders and team members. Today is extra special because I get to bring my 11-year-old son to volunteer for the first time. It’s rewarding because we get an opportunity to pay it forward. It’s great for an organization to create opportunities like this, where employees can give back to their communities,” said Marick Miraflor, Vice President for Operations at TP in the Philippines, who has led Brigada Eskwela volunteer efforts since 2013.
“This volunteer work, which is part of TP’s sustained support for education, connects directly to our values. Under the COTW program, TP has consistently engaged in projects and initiatives that support child rights in the Philippines. We do this as part of our commitment to nurturing young minds and defending every child’s right to learn and dream,” added Jeffrey Johnson, TP in the Philippines Chief People Officer and COTW President.
