SENATOR URGES SCHOOLS TO STAY VIGILANT AMID DENGUE THREATS
SENATOR Sherwin Gatchalian has called on schools across the country to remain on high alert against dengue fever, despite a recent decline in reported cases.
As the rainy season intensifies, Gatchalian stressed the importance of continued and aggressive implementation of preventive measures in both schools and surrounding communities.
“Schools must not let their guard down. They play a critical role in protecting students from dengue,” he said.
“They should actively promote the use of mosquito repellents, encourage wearing protective clothing, and ensure that classrooms are free from mosquito breeding sites,” he added.
Gatchalian also urged local government units to mobilize communities to eliminate stagnant water and conduct regular fogging in high-risk areas.
“It’s important that our hospitals are prepared, but it’s even more crucial that we prevent a surge in dengue cases in the first place,” he said.
His statement is part of ongoing efforts to ensure student safety and protect public health during the rainy season, when the risk of dengue typically increases.
