TDC: MARCOS’ CALL FOR COURTESY RESIGNATION A SURPRISING DEVELOPMENT

/ 23 May 2025

THE Teachers’ Dignity Coalition (TDC) described President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s call for the courtesy resignation of his Cabinet members as a surprising development.

TDC chairperson Benjo Basas said they hope the move is “driven by the intention to strengthen public service rather than by mere political realignment.”

“We are concerned that the education sector may be affected, especially if the heads of key agencies such as DepEd, CHED, and TESDA are replaced, as this could disrupt the continuity of critical programs,” Basas added.

He also urged the President to appoint replacements who are “competent, sincere, and honest—and most importantly, genuinely committed to public service.”

Several secretaries submitted their resignations on Thursday, following Marcos’ call.
