GROUP CALLS ON YOUTH TO DEFEND HISTORICAL TRUTH
ON THE 39th anniversary of the EDSA People Power Uprising, Kabataan Partylist called on the youth and all sectors of society to defend historical truth, demand accountability, and work toward genuine national transformation.
The youth group emphasized that People Power is not just another holiday to be celebrated; it is a continuing struggle for democracy, justice, and meaningful change.
Kabataan Partylist stood firm in opposing historical distortion and called on educational institutions, civil society, and youth/youth-serving groups to actively promote awareness of the real lessons of People Power.
To uphold the true spirit of the EDSA People Power Uprising, the group said various actions can be taken to educate, mobilize, and seek accountability. Schools and communities are organizing nationwide educational forums, alternative classes, and discussion groups to shed light on the true history and impact of EDSA.
“We witness youth and student organizations staging university walkouts and mobilizations to resist historical distortion and advocate for the democratic rights of the masses. On digital platforms, online campaigns are launched to combat disinformation and amplify the voices of those who stood against dictatorship—then and now,” they said.
“The youth today are not just digital natives—we are active agents of change. Beyond remembering EDSA, we must embody its true essence by continuing to resist tyranny and fight for a just and democratic society,” they added.
