SOLON: REGULAR COMMUNICATION KEY TO ADDRESSING TEENAGE PREGNANCY

/ 25 February 2025

ACT-CIS Party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo emphasized that addressing teenage pregnancy should start at home through regular communication between parents and their children.

Tulfo said solutions must begin within the family, with parents actively monitoring and guiding their children.

“We have to go back to basics. Mahirap ka man o mayaman, it all boils down to communication. Dapat may makausap ang bata,” he added.

Meanwhile, former Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos urged government agencies to develop programs that will support young mothers in fulfilling their responsibilities.

At the same time, Abalos underscored the importance of ensuring that young mothers continue their education despite early pregnancy.

He added that the Department of Social Welfare and Development should implement programs to assist teenage mothers.
