CREAMLINE and Petro Gazz seek to keep their top two positions heading into the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference qualifying round at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.
The Cool Smashers battle the Galeries Tower Highrisers at 4 p.m. on Thursday, the penultimate playdate in the preliminary round, while the Angels meet the Nxled Chameleons later at 6:30 p.m.
Creamline and Petro Gazz are on top of the standings with similar 9-1 win-loss cards and 26 points. However, the Cool Smashers have a 29-point set win aggregate against the Angels’ 27.
The Cool Smashers will try to rebound from their 28-30, 21-25, 25-23, 25-18, 14-16 defeat to the PLDT High Speed Hitters on Feb. 15.
The loss ended Creamline’s 19-game winning streak, dating back to last year’s Reinforced Conference.
Spearheading Creamline are Jema Galanza, Bernadeth Pons, Michele Gumabao, Tots Carlos, and Pangs Panaga while leading the Galeries Tower are Ysa Jimenez, Jewel Encarnacion, Roselle Baliton, France Ronquillo, Jho Maraguinot, and rookie Julia Coronel.
The Angels, on the other hand, will rely on Brooke Van Sickle, Aiza Pontillas, Remy Palma, MJ Phillips, and Nicole Tiamzon to sustain their winning form.
The Chameleons will bank on EJ Laure, Chiara Permentilla, Jaycel delos Reyes, Lucille Almonte, and May Luna.
Galeries Tower and Nxled have identical 1-9 records. (PNA)
