THOUSAND YOUTH JOIN SOLON’S ESPORTS TOURNAMENT

SENATE Majority Leader Francis Tolentino recently kicked off an esports tournament aimed at showcasing the skills of Filipino youth while promoting teamwork and discipline.

The inaugural ‘Click na Click si TOL’ invitational competition features popular esports games Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and Call of Duty Mobile (CODM).

“Gaming is more than just competition; it’s a powerful platform for pursuing positive social goals. Like traditional sports, esports fosters discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship, while also advancing the dreams of youth through digital education, competition, and creativity,” Tolentino stated.

Tolentino emphasized his commitment to improving basic services, including water, electricity, and internet access. “Reliable, affordable internet is key to expanding esports and digital literacy in the country,” he added.

To enhance connectivity, Tolentino is pushing for the ‘Konektadong Pinoy’ Bill (Senate Bill 2699) and a 20-percent student discount for digital communication and internet services through Senate Bill 2972.

Held at the Dasmariñas Arena in Cavite, the tournament attracted over a thousand youth gamers, including elite teams like Smart Omega and Onic Esports.

The event was organized in partnership with Click Partylist and the TNC Group. Among the participants were Tolentino’s sons, Tagaytay Councilor Micko and Patrick, who will play as part of Team Batang TOL.

“Filipino gamers are recognized as among the best in the region and the world. Esports has been officially included in collegiate leagues, debuted at the Southeast Asian Games, and even at the Asian Games,” Tolentino noted.

He also pointed out that the annual Reserve Officers Training Corps Games, which he organized, has included esports as part of its regular events.

“We hope this tournament will produce the next generation of gaming heroes who will bring honor to our country. Good luck to all the Gen Z gamers! May the best team win!” he concluded.
