UST, FEU-D CLINCH WINS IN UAAP BOYS’ BASKETBALL
UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University-Diliman secured victories in the UAAP Season 87 boys’ basketball tournament on Thursday (30 Jan 2025) at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan.
UST defeated University of the East (UE), 69-59, to extend its winning streak to three. Senegalese forward Racine Kane led the Tiger Cubs with 24 points, 12 rebounds, and three blocks. Joaquin Ludovice contributed 11 points, five rebounds, and three steals. Despite a strong push from UE, who trimmed the deficit to 56-59 in the fourth quarter, Kane spearheaded a 10-3 run to seal the win.
For UE, Ethan Aguas and Jean Bana each scored 15 points, with Aguas grabbing 14 rebounds. However, UE fell to 2-2 in the standings.
In the second game, FEU-D crushed University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS), 84-60, to tie UST at 3-1. Liam Salangsang led the Tamaraws with 16 points, including five three-pointers. Marc Burgos and Jheremy Godoy added 15 points each, while Cabs Cabonilas and Mico Pascual chipped in 12 and 10 points, respectively. Bruce Tubongbanua and Rocco Melicor each scored 16 points for UPIS.
Both UST and FEU-D now sit in second place in the standings.
