DEPED INKS PARTNERSHIP WITH LRA TO BOOST SCHOOL BUILDING CONSTRUCTION

THE DEPARTMENT of Education and the Land Registration Authority have partnered to address issues with untitled properties that often hinder infrastructure projects.
DepEd stated that this partnership would expedite the construction of school buildings and facilities.
The initiative aims to convert manually issued land titles under DepEd into electronic titles, which is a crucial step in addressing the classroom backlog.
The Memorandum of Agreement was signed by Education Secretary Sonny Angara and LRA Administrator Gerardo Panga Sirios.
“Lack of title signifies a lack of security or a secured future, as this delays the construction of new classrooms,” Angara said.
“This is a significant day for DepEd. The land or title of a school is the heart of the community, as it’s not only where children study, but also where the barangay council and the community gather,” he added.
Meanwhile, Sirios emphasized the importance of the partnership in safeguarding assets for future generations.
“This event will help not only the Department of Education in securing its assets, but also the future of our youth. These assets will determine where schools are located, and with these schools, we can provide quality education,” he said.
