QC LOCAL GOVERNMENT PLANS SOLAR PANEL INSTALLATION IN PUBLIC SCHOOLS

/ 16 October 2024

THE QUEZON City local government on Tuesday announced plans to install solar panels in 50 public schools across the city.

Earlier on Monday (14 Oct 2024), QC Mayor Joy Belmonte, Schools Division Office Superintendent Carleen Sedilla, City Administrator Mike Alimurung, and City Engineer Atty. Dale Perral signed a Memorandum of Agreement to kick off the initiative.

Department heads and members of the Solar Technical Working Group also witnessed the MOA signing.

“Kapag solarized na ang mga gusali, makababawas ito sa gastos ng mga paaralan sa kuryente at mas maisusulong ang paggamit ng renewable energy. Mababawasan din ang kanilang carbon emission na nagpapalala sa climate change,” the local government said in a post.

Currently, three buildings in Quezon City Hall and two public schools have been solarized. The installation of solar panels in three city-owned hospitals is also underway.
