SENATOR URGES GRADUATE SCHOOL GRADUATES TO HELP IMPROVE VOTER EDUCATION

/ 10 October 2024

SENATE Majority Leader Francis Tolentino called on hundreds of graduate school graduates to raise voter education and awareness as the country prepares for next year’s midterm elections.

Tolentino made this appeal in his keynote address at the 45th commencement exercises of the graduate school program at the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta.

“Be the voice of wisdom, fairness, and hope as our country selects its next set of national and local leaders,” Tolentino urged.

“It is time to be fair to ourselves, the next generation, and to the Republic of the Philippines,” he added.

Tolentino, who holds four post-graduate degrees, acknowledged the hard work and discipline required to succeed in graduate studies.

“Many of you may have families, careers, or businesses. Balancing those with your studies is not just a Herculean task but a devotion—akin to spirituality,” Tolentino said.

With higher knowledge comes greater responsibility to society, he added, especially as the nation faces a critical juncture.

“The upcoming national elections present an opportunity for all of us to help guide our nation toward a brighter future,” said Tolentino.

He encouraged the graduates to use their leadership and commitment to truth to help voters better understand the platforms, records, and values of each candidate.

“Let’s guide our fellow Filipinos to focus on integrity, competence, and a genuine desire to serve over personal or political interests,” he concluded.
