ATTEMPTED homicide charges have been filed against NorthPort guard John Walker Amores in the Lumban, Laguna court, stemming from a shootout allegedly related to a bet in a barangay basketball game.

The Philippine Basketball Association rookie posted bail of P24,000, while his brother, Red Amores, secured his release with a P10,000 bail.

The charges were detailed in a document signed by Assistant Provincial Prosecutor Maria Cayaba on September 26, which was obtained by the media on Friday.

Reports indicate that the Amores brothers surrendered to authorities after security footage revealed them firing a handgun at Lee Cacalda along the Manila East Road following a game in Lumban, Laguna province. Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident, which police say arose from an argument over a P4,000 bet in a pickup game.

In 2022, Amores was banned while a collegiate player after a physical altercation involving four players from an opposing team.
