NAGHIHINTAY ang ‘expanded’ healthcare benefits sa public school teachers at iba pang kawani ng pamahalaan sa susunod na taon.
Ayon sa Department of Education (DepEd), ipagkakaloob ang annual medical allowance na hanggang P7,000 saeligible government civilian personnel, kabilang ang public school teachers, sa ilalim ng Executive Order No. 64.
Sinabi ng DepEd na nagsisilbi itong subsidiya sa halaga ng ilang benepisyo mula sa health maintenance organizations (HMO).
“If we pool that together, we can secure comprehensive insurance coverage for our teachers,” wika ni Education Secretary Sonny Angara.
Ayon sa DepEd, ang adjustment ay kumakatawan sa 1,300% pagtaas mula P500 medical allowance na ipinagkaloob noong 2020.
“Furthermore, the Department has reminded its teaching and non-teaching personnel that they are eligible to file claims under the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS)-issued Personal Accident Insurance (GPAI) policy. This policy provides coverage for accidental death or dismemberment up to P100,000 and medical reimbursement up to P30,000 for injuries,” dagdag pa ng ahensiya.
Bukod dito, simula School Year 2025-2026, ang public school teachers ay tatanggap ng P10,000 teaching allowance o “chalk allowance”.
Ito ay sa ilalim ng Republic Act 11997 o ang Kabalikat sa Pagtuturo Act, na co-authored ni Angara sa Senado, na tumaas mula sa kasalukuyang allowance na P5,000.
