DEPARTMENT of Education Secretary Sonny Angara led the agency’s flag ceremony on Monday, his first time as the department head.

During his speech, Angara assured DepEd employees and other officials that his office would be open for conversations regarding the concerns faced by the agency.

“[K]ung may gustong kumausap sa akin I will make myself available in my office for the whole day…so kung may gustong kumausap sa amin please you’re welcome na kumatok sa aming opisina to have a nice conversation,” the new DepEd chief said.

He also said that he is willing to listen to the members of DepEd as they are “aware” of the problems being faced by the education sector.

“I think mas kabisado ninyo yung mga problema dito sa DepEd and I just want to be a channel for reform in our system. So makikinig po ako sa inyo at maraming gustong tumulong sa loob at labas ng ating bulwagan at sa ating departamento,” Angara added.

“Marami sa pribadong sector, marami sa international organizations, marami sa charitable organizations, marami sa private sector, corporate donors, well-meaning individuals,” the former senator added.
