MAKATI City Rep. Luis Campos has recommended for the allocation of a P1 billion budget as nursing education support fund aiming to address the shortage of nurses in the country.

Campos filed House Resolution 1510 urging the government to approve the said allocation.

The solon stressed the need to give assistance to 117 State Universities and Colleges particularly those offering Bachelor degree in nursing.

At present, there are 44 SUCs that are offering nursing courses led by the University of the Philippines-Manila.

The resolution urges the House Committee on Education and Committee on Appropriations to study the possibility of opening new nursing colleges in 73 other SUCs.

Campos said this move will help solve the shortage of nurses in the country due to greener pasteur in America and Europe.
