QC GOV’T CONDEMNS HAZING OF CRIMINOLOGY STUDENT
QUEZON City Mayor Maria Josefina “Joy” Belmonte ordered the police to hunt down the other suspects behind the hazing death of a student.
“Hindi dapat maging batayan ng katapatan at kapatiran ang pananakit sa kapwa na maaaring magdulot ng permanenteng pinsala o humantong sa kamatayan,” the mayor said as she condemned the death of Ahldryn Leary Bravante, 25, a student of the Philippine College of Criminology.
“Once again, this incident demonstrates that hazing is a life-threatening practice that violates the principles of human dignity,” she said in a statement. “Physical harm and violence through hazing and other initiation rites should be abhorred and condemned in accordance with RA 11054 or the Anti-Hazing Act of 2018.”
Four suspects are now under the custody of the Quezon City Police District – Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit.
The local government vowed to collaborate with authorities to ensure that justice will be served and those individuals who are liable will be punished.
