TRADE and Industry Secretary Alfred Pascual on Thursday visited stores in Divisoria in Manila to check on the prices of school supplies.

“Mas pinaigting namin ang pagsusuri sa presyo ng mga kagamitan sa paaralan para siguruhing sinusunod ng mga tindahan ang aming inilabas na Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies noong nakaraang buwan,” Pascual said.

The group composed of members of the Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau conducted a surprise inspection of stores following the release of the latest “Gabay sa Pamimili ng School Supplies” in accordance with the Department of Education’s “Balik Eskwela” program.

“Gusto naming siguruhing ang mga magulang na bibili ng mga gamit sa paaralan para sa kanilang mga anak sa paparating na taon ng eskwela ay hindi magiging biktima ng sobrang taas na presyo at iba pang hindi makatarungang paraan ng pagbebenta,” Pascual said.

Twenty-two out of 23 stores surveyed were found to comply with the price guide.

The DTI called the attention of a store selling a device at a higher price.
