LUMAD CHILDREN GET GIFTS FROM DOST AND HELP DAVAO NETWORK
LUMAD children in Davao del Sur received school supplies and treats during the gift-giving activity carried out by the Department of Science and Technology, DOST XI Employees Multi-purpose Cooperative and the Hydrology for Environment, Life, and Policy Davao Network.
The outreach program was held in Sitio Upian, Marilog District last December.
The DOST, HELP Davao and partner organizations have been providing support to the community through the “Pasko sa Tribu”.
Over 300 school packages were given to the community. Each pack contained paper, pencils, coloring pens, sharpeners and ballpens.
The children and their parents also received slippers and clothes.
DOST XI Regional Director Anthony Sales said that he is glad to return to the community after being unable to organize its outreach event in 2020 and 2021 due to the Covid19 pandemic.
“We have been doing this for the past 12 years and we are always glad that we can give back to the community to make them happy especially during the Holiday season,” he said.
The outreach group also conducted games and shared meals with the community.
