A FILIPINO priest has been named as consultor of the Vatican dicastery that oversees Catholic schools, universities and institutes of higher education around the world.

According to CBCP News, Pope Francis appointed Fr. Jose V.C. Quilongquilong to the Vatican’s Congregation for Catholic Education.

He will serve for a term of five years.

The appointment was also announced Tuesday by the Loyola School of Theology where Quilongquilong served as president.

The priest is a known theologian with a licentiate and doctorate in spirituality from the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome.

He also worked as regional secretary for Asia-Pacific at the Jesuit General Curia in Rome while completing his studies.

Quilongquilong currently serves as the administrator of the Mirador Jesuit Villa Retreat House and Eco-Spirituality Park in Baguio City.
