STUDENT groups urged officials of the University of the East to allow BS Accountancy and Management Accounting students to revise their answers in the midterm departmental exam.

Students were earlier informed that the exam questions would be locked, preventing them from changing their answers.

The school’s publication The Dawn, the University Student Council and the College of Business Administration Student Council appealed to UE President Ester Garcia to change the school’s policy.

“We should take into account that imposing such policy will just add to the burden of the students given the fact that they still experience internet connection problems,” the groups said.

“Locked questions will hinder the students from answering the questions without pressure since they worry about the time and the items itself,” they added.

The groups pointed out that the policy will result in students skipping questions as they are “stressed on the process.”

They argued that the policy will also add to the burden of the students especially those who have poor internet connection problems.

“Students have various strategies and ways of answering examination and letting them answer questions they find easier first should be allowed,” the groups said.

“Strategizing as to which of the questions that the students would answer first is a practice of testmanship that they will deploy in the board exam and in both actual CPALE, questions are not locked so that students will have the liberty to answer first the questions which they think are easier and allot some time on those that seems to be more challenging,” they added.
