The chronicle of UST’s controversial training bubble has ended as the highly decorated collegiate coach can no longer mentor any UAAP teams.

“After a thorough deliberation, the UAAP BOT ratified the decision of the BMD to ban coach Aldin Ayo indefinitely from participating in any capacity, in all UAAP events and UAAP sanctioned-activities,” the league said in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the said statement, the ban is based on UST’s report proving that Ayo has endangered the health and well-being of the Growling Tigers when he conducted the training at Capuy,  Sorsogon despite a government-declared state of public emergency intended to arrest the COVID-19 outbreak.

Ayo has since resigned from his post on Friday which was accepted by UST on Saturday morning.

The UAAP Board of Trustees, composed of presidents of the league’s eight member-schools, have tagged Ayo as the mastermind behind the ‘Bicol bubble training’ that continues to drag the name of the university in mud.

This was after reports revealed how the Sorsogon-born mentor got clearance to conduct the training despite the denial of former IPEA director, Fr. Jannel Abogado, initially denied the request for the said training.

This training fiasco has led to an exodus of players leaving the España-based squad including former team captain CJ Cansino, Rhenz Abando, Ira Bataller, and Brent Paraiso among others.

Furthermore, Ayo is also awaiting verdict from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the Department of Justice (DOJ), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) as they finalize their own investigation regarding the said Sorsogon training.
