THE DEPARTMENT of Education in the National Capital Region on Friday announced the suspension of classes from January 15 to 22 as several groups called for a health break amid the spike in Covid19 cases.
Regional Director Wilfredo Cabral said the move seeks to ease the physical and mental well-being of school personnel and learners.
Cabral noted that only asynchronous classes will resume on Jan. 24 to 29.
He added that physical reporting of teachers “will not be required by school heads” during the duration of the break.
The mid-year break scheduled on Jan. 31 to February 5, meanwhile, will be utilized by learners to comply with their backlogs in learning outputs.
The Quarter 2 examinations will be moved to Feb. 7 to 8 while the submission of learning outputs is scheduled to Feb. 7 to 12 using online platforms.
“The lost contact days shall be compensated by mechanisms such as independent study, remediation, enhancement of activities, and other related teaching-learning interactions,” Cabral said.
“The school heads are instructed to design schemes/strategies in order to operationalize these mechanisms,” he added.
