PH MALDITAS TO CHANGE MONIKER, COACH MARO SAYS “IT DOESN’T REPRESENT FILIPINAS”
Philippine national football team Malditas is looking to adopt a new moniker as “Malditas” does not suit the squad, said Coach Marlon Maro.
“I don’t know how it started because when I retired from women’s coaching in 2007 there was no moniker about this thing,” coach Maro said.
“Personally, if you asked me, I don’t like the word malditas because it doesn’t represent exactly the Filipinas.”
The veteran coach also shared that the word “Malditas” gives a negative vibe to the value of the whole team.
Nevertheless, coach Maro said to the team to stop using Malditas as their moniker.
“I’m using this platform now as coach of the team, to stop using ‘maldita’ because these are not ‘maldita’ players, they are beautiful, they are good, they are intelligent, and they are very disciplined,” he said.
“So I think we have to look for a name again that we have to be proud of, of our Filipinas.”
