SOLON BATS FOR STATE COLLEGE IN ORIENTAL MINDORO
DEPUTY Speaker Paulino Salvador Leachon filed a measure that seeks to establish a state college in the province of Oriental Mindoro.
Leachon, who represents Oriental Mindoro’s 1st District at the House of Representatives, said that education is one of the most important legacies that Filipino parents can impart to their children.
Under House Bill 8878, the state college will be located in the municipality of Pinamalayan.
“A good education opens opportunities that ensure a better future. A college education paves the way to brighter career opportunities,” Leachon said in his explanatory note.
He disclosed that the Sanggunian Panlalawigan of Oriental Mindoro recently adopted a resolution appealing to President Rodrigo Duterte, the Department of Education, Commission on Higher Education, Senate and House of Representatives for the establishment of a state college in the province.
“Establishing a state college in the province will give the students a wider latitude for learning at the tertiary level,” Leachon said.
