CAVITE STATE U STUDENTS RAISE FUNDS FOR TEACHERS
STUDENTS of the Cavite State University initiated a fundraising project to help pre-service teachers.
The Education Circle, an academic organization of the Teacher Education Department of the university’s College of Education, led the initiative called “KapaTEDs.”
Its first activity was a three-hour online concert dubbed “PISONET: Drop a coin for minutes of exploration, donate a coin to give access to Education.” The group raised P6,000 from the event.
The virtual concert featured artists and performers from within and outside the university.
“The idea of donating a coin was inspired by a local computer business named PISONet that requires the user to drop coins for access to the computer for a limited time. Beneficiaries were selected according to their ability to attend online classes and their internet connectivity,” the students said.
CED dean Dr. Ammie Ferrer, TED chairperson Dr. Florencio Abanes and Silang Vice Mayor Aidel Paul Belamide supported the project.
