UAAP: IT’S CONFIRMED, OLSEN RACELA IS LEAVING FEU TAMARAWS AFTER 5 SEASONS
IT’s confirmed.
IT’s confirmed.
Former San Miguel Beer hotshot and now Far Eastern U head coach Olsen Racela is leaving the Tamaraws after five seasons.
This was confirmed by no less than the top executives of the Morayta-based school via a post on social media.
The former PBA star, who has been with the Tamaraws since Season 80, will be vacating his post any time soon, according to the university statement on Facebook.
“Coach Olsen Racela is stepping down as Head Coach of the FEU Tamaraws Men’s Basketball Team. Coach Olsen led the team to four UAAP Final Four appearances in 5 seasons,” FEU said in a statement posted on Facebook.
“We thank Coach Olsen for guiding our Tamaraws with class and for always instilling the proper values,” the FB post further stated.
The Tams made it to the Final 4 four times under Racela, but no further.
FEU had a poor showing in the recently-concluded 85th Season where Ateneo bested the University of the Philippines, 2-1 in the Best-of-Three Series.
The Tamaraws missed the semis bus in Season 85 as they had a sorry 0-5 start.
If was of any consolation, FEU managed to finish the 85th season with a 77-62 win over the University of Sto. Tomas.
But still, FEU remains the winningest school in the UAAP as it currently holds the record for the most number of championships (20 titles) in the men’s basketball division of the school league.
