UP FIGHTING MAROONS SURVIVES ADAMSON’S ONSLAUGHT TO CLAIM FOURTH WIN
University of the Philippines (UP) gutted out a two-point lead, 73-71, against Adamson to claim their fourth victory, Tuesday in the UAAP Season 84 men's basketball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Soaring Falcons failed to snatch the match as Jerom Lastimosa buffed a potential game-winning trey of three, and at the horn, the Fighting Maroons were hailed as winners.
With the said development, UP is now at 4-1 standing, led by Zavier Lucero’s 20 points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals, Malick Diouf’s 16 points, and 15-rebound, Carl Tamayo’s 11 points and five boards while Ricci Rivero recorded 10 points.
“A win is a win. After this game, we need to work sa defense namin,” UP coach Goldwin Monteverde said.
“Maraming lapses. I think going sa next game namin, kailangan namin ma-improve pa lalo yung defense.” he added.
Meanwhile, Lastimosa had 18 points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals, for the Soaring Falcons as they slip to a 1-4 win-loss record.
Lenda Douanga also gave a scare to UP as he paced Adamson with 16 points and 14 rebounds, while Keith Zaldivar had 14 points.
