ST. CLAIRE SURVIVES ENDERUN IN GAME THREE TO CLAIM FIFTH STRAIGHT NAASCU CROWN
St. Clare College of Caloocan dominated its rival school Enderun once again in game three, 53-50, to bag the title in NAASCU along with a historic five-peat, at Novadeci Convention Center in Novaliches.
St. Clare bagged the first win in the first game despite having a little bump in the second quarter with having only a five points advantage but they turned the tides down as Johnsherick Estrada registered a step back shot 34-33 to finish with a whopping lead of 12 points, 53-51.
However, Enderun refused to lose and seized Game 2 with St. Clare not having a chance to close the gap as early as in the first quarter with an eight-point deficit, 10-18, that paved the way for losing the second skid with seven points in favor of Enderun.
With a do-or-die situation, the Saints and Enderun pushed for an aggressive play with solid defense in Game 3 that saw numerous deadlocks up until the second quarter, 21 all.
But Estrada commandeered the team in the second half and posted 12 points and 12 rebounds, capping the MVP and Rookie of the Year awards followed by JJ Manacho’s nine points.
With 1:18 minutes left, St. Clare tied the score at 52 but Enderun failed to register a basket which gave the Saints the advantage after John Edcel Rojas scored, 52-50. 36.3 ticks of the clock and Rojas was waxing hot and finished the game with his free throw, 53-50.
