LETRAN KNIGHTS WELCOMES FORMER JUNIORS’ CJ SAURE, EDWARD DAQUIOAG
Letran Knights welcomed two new highly-touted prospects as the squad secured the commitments of the Squires’ standouts, CJ Saure and Edward Daquioag.
Knights coach Bonnie Tan confirmed the development to Spin.Ph on Monday that the two former Junior players will be joining the Seniors team for the new National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) season.
20-year-old Saure was an integral piece for Letran’s Junior team during NCAA Season 95. The Pangasinense athlete led the squad in scoring and posted 14.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.5 assists in 24.2 minutes per contest.
The 6-foot-1 slasher who topped the Squires in scoring during the said season was a key piece for the crew as they finished in seventh place with an 8-10 record.
Meanwhile, 19-year-old Daquioag was supposed to debut this past year with the team.
The 5-foot-11 guard is a younger brother of former University of Santo Tomas Growling Tiger and now Blackwater slasher Ed.
Saure and Daquioag will have to vie for their spot in a loaded Senior’s pool once NCAA Season 97 begins.
The Letran Knights will be led by star mainstay and NCAA Season 95 Finals MVP Fran Yu as the crew seeks to defend the championship title.
The two will join a loaded pool of Knights recruits including transferees Rhenz Abando, Brent Paraiso, and Ira Bataller from UST, rookies Jeff Mailim and Jimly Lantaya from National University-Nazareth School, and former Gilas Youth member Rafael Go from Chiang Kai Shek.
