LA SALLE STUNS GRITTY FEU TO GRAB THIRD CONSECUTIVE WIN
De La Salle University (DLSU) defeated Far Eastern University (FEU) in four sets, 25-7, 25-12, 22-25, 25-11, yesterday, in the UAAP Season 84 women's volleyball tournament at Mall of Asia Arena.
The Lady Spikers immediately took control of the game with big deficits in the first two sets as Leiah Malaluan poured 16 points from 15 attacks and one ace in the game.
But FEU denied DLSU an easy sweep at the third set with both teams reaching the crucial twenty at 22-25.
Despite a sudden bump in the third set, the Lady Spikers immediately retaliated and gave no chance for the Tamaraws to keep at pace with a rallying 25-11.
Saved from a crushing third-set defeat, coach Benson Bocboc averred that there are still inconsistencies on his team that need to be addressed.
“Hopefully, we can address that coming into the second round, and we can follow it up with more wins.”
La Salle is now sitting on a 5-2 card same as the University of Santo Tomas (UST) while FEU fell on a 1-6 loss.
