The Lady Spikers demonstrated their superiority over their opponents once again, making it two times already this season, to record their 10th win in a row out of 13 matches.

Jyne Soreño, who reappeared as a spiker after a libero stint, and rookie Leiah Malaluan paced the offense with 17 points respectively, while Mars Alba directed the attack with 22 outstanding sets.

The Lady Spikers was also powered by Thea Gagate’s 12 points, Fifi Sharma ended with seven points and 14 points from Jolina Dela Cruz with 15 excellent receptions.

It was a remarkable recovery from La Salle, who had to dodge impending disaster after dropping the third set. They responded with a brilliant set four, where they held a 21-11 lead before fending off a late Ateneo attack.

It was not easy for La Salle as the Blue Eagles put up a stiff battle indicative of their long-standing rivalry. However, Ateneo’s lead gunner Faith Nisperos screwed up an attack, which was followed by two more violations as the Taft side moved closer to getting the win.

Lady Spikers also appeared to gain from Katipunan’s blunders right before the end of the game, as the Blue Eagles committed six errors, including back-to-back net touches on AC Miner that put La Salle at set point, 14-10

In spite of Faith Nisperos’ and Takako Fujimoto’s efforts, La Salle prevailed owing to a spike from Soreno that crashed on coach Oliver Almadro concluding the rally.

Ang message lang talaga is kailangan gustuhin niyo. Kung gugustuhin niyo, makukuha natin. Buti nag-respond yung mga players. Talagang ginusto nila,” said Benson Bocboc, the assistant coach of La Salle.

The Blue Eagles’ three-game winning streak was snapped, and they must now win one more game in order to guarantee their place in the Final Four
