FEU CLAIMS FIRST WIN WITH VICTORY OVER UE
Far Eastern University (FEU) pulled out a thrilling five-set win against University of the East (UE), 19-25, 25-15, 25-20, 17-25, 15-10, to pick up its first UAAP Season 84 match at the Mall of Asia Arena on Tuesday.
Chen Tagaod fired a game-high 20 points, built from attacks, while Jean Asis scored 13 points from nine spikes, two blocks, and two aces.
Tagaod ignited a late 8-0 run to give the Lady Tamaraws a comfortable 13-8 lead in the decisive fifth set leading to Lycha Ebon’s ace and Jean Asis’ hit to finish off the match.
“Nakita naman namin ‘yong mga bata na gusto nilang manalo pero sabi ko sa kanila, hindi madali kasi nasa transition period kami,” said Lady Tamaraws head coach George Pascua.
“Sabi ko magtulungan na lang sa loob ng court. At the end of the day, kapag nagtutulungan may possibility na manalo.”
Janeca Lana paced the Lady Warriors with 20 points behind 16 attacks, three blocks, and a service ace, while Ercae Nieva posted 15 hits and four service aces for 19 markers as UE remained winless after three games.
FEU Lady Tamaraws will next face the Ateneo Blue Eagles on Thursday, May 12, while the UE Lady Warriors will go up against the undefeated NU Lady Bulldogs on the same date.
