ADAMSON OUTLASTS UE TO KEEP FINALS FOUR BID ALIVE
Adamson University (ADU) kept its final four bid alive with a rout against the University of the East (UE), 65-53, in the UAAP Season 84 seniors basketball tournament on Sunday at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Going into the game with a two-game losing streak, the Falcons rallied on an 11-0 run to put up a 12-point lead, 30-22, after the first half.
“We took care of business today but there’s still a lot of things to improve on. It’s a continuous growth for the team and for the players,” said Adamson coach Nash Racela.
“One of the things I emphasized today is to trust each other. We were able to do that because this is the first time we reached 19 assists,” he added.
Come the second half, the Warriors tried to trim the lead, closing in by five points, 47-42, but the Adamson’s Ricky Peromingan responded with a three-pointer to spark a windup.
Joem Sabandal had 15 points and five rebounds, while Vince Magbuhos had 11 points and 10 rebounds in their sixth win in 14 games.
The Warriors ended their campaign without a win in all 14 matches.
Harvey Pagsanjan led with 13 points, while Kyle Paranada had 10 points. Clint Escamis grabbed 15 boards in the loss.
