The Adamson Soaring Falcons broke the eight-game win streak of the UP Fighting Maroons, 66-58, at the Mall of Asia Arena on Thursday, April 21.

/ 22 April 2022

The Falcons proved as one of the greatest comebacks in the UAAP Season 84 as Adamson started with a 1-6 slate and drilled three consecutive wins for a 4-6 record at the expense of UP’s historic eight consecutive wins.

Adamson easily dominated the first half of the game as they maintained their eight-point lead at the end of both the first and second frames.

UP tried to rally back and shortened the gap with just four points in the third frame and continued to push forward as Ricci Rivero delivered a basket, 57-59, with 36.8 ticks left in the last quarter.

Still, it was all in vain as Jerome Lastimosa blasted the efforts of the Katipunan side as he shot a three-pointer, 62-57, with 23.3 ticks left.

Lastimosa paced Adamson with 13 points, five rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and one steal, while Didat Hanapi contributed 12 points, and Sabandal scored 11 points.

UP with an 8-2 record was led by Rivero with 14 points, five rebounds, and two steals, while Carl Tamayo scored 12 points, eight boards, and two steals, and Malick Diouf got seven points, 10 rebounds, and two blocks.

Adamson will try for a winning streak as they will face UST on Saturday, April 23, while UP will try to recover in a match against De La Salle Green Archers on the same day.
