YOUNG AZKALS DT BURIES MENDIOLA FC, GRABS FIRST WIN AS GAYOSO GOALS THE FIRST NOTCH
The young Azkals Development Team grabbed its first win in the Philippines Football League (PFL) by Qatar Airways with a 2-0 win head-on against Mendiola FC on Tuesday at the Philippine Football Federation National Training Center in Carmona, Cavite.
With 73 minutes bygone in the clock, Jarvey Gayoso opened the scoreline and booted the first score for the roster of Azkals DT.
The past eight minutes followed by Matthew Custodio that resulted in Azkal-squad laddering up the ranking with 3 points in its first appearance.
The Azkals-squad doubled the hustle for Mendiola FC courtesy of Custodio’s kick when he rebounded Mar Diano’s close-range shot that was blocked by Kenry Balobo.
“I’m just proud to be able to help the team get the first win,” Gayoso shared.
“We still have to look at our mistakes. We can’t be satisfied with this game. We have to be willing and wanting to do more for our next game,” he added.
Moreover, Azkals coach Scott Cooper shared how they were able to secure the win during the pivotal 2nd half shake-up as they leveled up their tactics.
“We had to go to the bench at the end and mix some things up because for our development players, we need to show them how to win games as well,” he averred.
“We’ll see about the next game and think about these players’ development,” Coach Cooper concluded.
While Mendiola FC suffered its second defeat, and now sitting at the bottom of the standings with 0-8 points.
