TNT WRAPS 2022 PBA 3X3 FIRST LEG WITH SECOND TITLE AFTER TROUNCING MERALCO
TNT claimed their second PBA 3x3 title and the first leg title for the 2022 PBA 3×3 season after shutting off Meralco, 21-19, on Sunday at Smart Araneta Coliseum.
In a neck-and-neck battle with Meralco, the Tropang Giga concluded the first leg with a perfect 6-0 record.
The squad won a cash award of P100,000, thanks to Almond Vosotros’ 10 points and Samboy De Leon and big man Raymark Acuno’s four points apiece.
Despite the fact that Vosotros missed several attempts, TNT coach Mau Belen trusted in him and urged him to keep shooting until he found the proper position.
“He’s been missing shots, but I told him to keep on shooting kasi yun ang laro niya. And the right moment will come, papasok din yan,” said coach Belen
“And what more a right moment can come than the last two points for the championship” he added.
Still, the Bolts were never without a fight as Tonio Gonzaga delivered a game-high 11 points to tie the game at 17-17 with 1:33 remaining.
Vosotros and Gonzaga tied with two points apiece, then tied again with 19, but it was the former who won with a 21-19 edge.
The scores:
TNT (21) – Vosotros 10, Acuno 4, De Leon 4, Flores 3.
Meralco (19) – Gonzaga 11, Sedurifa 6, Batino 2, Maiquez 0.
