Knott clocked 11.27 seconds breaking the record-high 11.28 seconds by de Vega during the 1987 Southeast Asian Games in Jakarta. Her time holds the fastest record not only in the Philippines but also in Southeast Asia as well.

She snatched the silver medal finishing behind Kayla White who recorded 11.18 seconds. Running for third is Tianna Bartoletta who ticked 11.44 seconds. 

Knott admitted that she was supposed to run for the 200-meter run, her pet event, in a video interview with Dyan Castillejo. “I’m getting my mind and my mental ready for the 200. And then all that went on the window when I looked at the sheet and I only saw my name on the 100,” she said.

According to the sprinter, she “was kicked to the curb” as other athletes that have been initially invited were to only accept at the last minute losing the spot that was given to her in the meet.

“I was kinda disappointed because I was so ready for the 200, I’ve been training for the 200. I’m just ready to break my own record in the 200,” she added.

Breaking records was not new to the 24-year-old, during the 2019 SEA Games she reset the 200-meter dash record by clocking 23.07 seconds in the preliminaries. She then shattered her own record in the finals where she registered 23.01 seconds and clinched the gold for the Philippines.

As the Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) observed, Knott is on track to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. The Olympic qualifying standard times in the 100m and 200m are 11.15 seconds and 22.80 seconds respectively.
