SOLOMON WITHDRAWS FROM PVL ROOKIE DRAFT, SHIFTS FOCUS TO NATIONAL TEAM AND OVERSEAS OPPORTUNITIES

1 June 2026

VOLLEYBALL standout Alyssa Solomon has officially withdrawn from the 2026 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Rookie Draft just one day before the June 1 submission deadline.

The announcement was made Sunday by Hustle and Groove, Solomon’s management team, which revealed that the highly regarded prospect has chosen to prioritize her commitment to Alas Pilipinas while continuing to pursue professional opportunities abroad.

According to Hustle and Groove owner Flavius Dulce, Solomon will begin training with the national team on Monday in preparation for the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Women’s Cup scheduled from June 6 to 14 in Candon City.

The 6-foot-1 opposite hitter recently completed a season in Japan’s SV.League with Osaka Marvelous and is expected to join a national squad featuring veteran players Alyssa Valdez, Ces Molina, and Jovelyn Gonzaga under interim head coach Shaq Delos Santos.

Dulce said Solomon remains open to playing professionally overseas and is currently exploring opportunities in Italy, the United States, Turkey, Japan, and Peru while continuing her duties with the Philippine national team.

The three-time UAAP champion from National University participated in the opening day of the PVL Draft Combine, where she underwent physical measurements and various performance evaluations.

Despite attending the combine, Solomon previously emphasized that she had yet to make a final decision regarding her professional future. She also expressed appreciation for the chance to train and reconnect with fellow draft hopefuls during the event.

PVL Control Committee chairman Sherwin Malonzo noted that players who withdraw from the draft must repeat the entire application process should they decide to join a future draft.

Solomon’s decision leaves Galeries Tower, holder of the No. 1 overall pick, facing a revised draft strategy. However, head coach Aying Esteban had earlier indicated that the team was prepared for any scenario involving the top prospect.

Following Galeries Tower, Capital1 owns the second overall selection, with Choco Mucho, ZUS Coffee, Akari, Nxled, Farm Fresh, PLDT, and Creamline rounding out the draft order.
