SMB TRADES ALEX CABAGNOT FOR SIMON ENCISO
The PBA four-man trade committee approved a deal to ship San Miguel guard Alex Cabagnot to Terrafirma for Simon Enciso.
The said development was announced through the PBA website on November 13, Saturday, which entailed the trade-off of San Miguel and Terrafirma for each team to acquire Enciso and Cabagnot, respectively.
This week, the SMB had to let go former MVP, Arwind Santos, in exchange to NorthPort for Vic Manuel, and now the club decided to forego another Beermen’s key piece, Cabagnot.
Cabagnot played with the Beermen for 11 years but halted temporarily in 2014 when he was traded to the GlobalPort Batang Pier and returned to the SMB not after more than one year through another trade.
Cabagnot marked his name with San Miguel as he delivered eight titles and one finals MVP.
In the recent Philippine Cup led by young core Juami Tiongson, Andreas Cahilig, and Aldrech Ramos, the 38-year-old Cabagnot showed a relatively impressive performance.
Cabagnot averaged 12.25 points, 3.75 rebounds, and 2.75 assists.
Meanwhile, Enciso was traded last September 28 to Terrafirma from Blackwater for Rashawn McCarthy. Now, he will be joining his sixth team since being drafted 17th overall by Rain or Shine – and immediately sent to NLEX in a 2015 trade.
