NorthPort just traded serviceable forward, Onwubere, to Barangay Ginebra Gin Kings for Art dela Cruz, making the transaction its third major trade in just four days. 

The PBA Commissioner’s Office has already approved the development on Tuesday, November 9. 

Earlier, the Batang Pier sent off Sean Anthony, Sean Manganti, and a future second-round pick to acquire Vic Manuel and Mike Calisaan from the Phoenix Super LPG.

Not long after, the Batang Pier then dealt workhorse Manuel to San Miguel in a one-on-one trade for former PBA MVP Arwind Santos.

Dela Cruz was expected to carry a major role for the championship contender, Ginebra, but never saw action due to an injury-riddled stint that made him miss the 2021 PBA Philippine Cup.

Meanwhile, Onwubere, the eighth overall pick by Phoenix in the 2017 draft, made an impressive campaign for NorthPort where he averaged career-highs of 9.6 points and 5.2 rebounds in the all-Filipino conference.

He started 12 of 13 games for the Batang Pier in the 2021 All-Filipino Cup, where they made the playoffs after being swept by the Beermen in a best-of-three quarterfinals series.
