NLEX TO RELY ON MURRELL, TAULAVA AFTER ROSTER’S SERIES OF INJURY
NLEX Road Warriors is set to patch up its depleted roster with veteran Asi Taulava and the debuting Dave Murrell.
Murrell was selected in the second round of this season’s PBA Rookie Draft and is said to have been practicing with the road warriors in the past few days.
But the injuries taken one after another by the team, pushed the management to elevate former players from the University of the Philippines.
“He’s an athletic player and I don’t think he’ll have difficulty adjusting to what we’re doing with the team,” general manager and head coach Yeng Guiao said.
“We had a good two-day practice and that keeps us upbeat of our chances going to our game on Wednesday against Magnolia.”
While the 48-year old Taulava will also be reactivated by the NLEX and is expected to strengthen the defense of the team being one of the gunners in the victory game last December 18 against Terrafirma, 116-86.
Despite having voids to fill, Murrel affirmed that he will do his best for the NLEX.
“We, as a team, obviously need Anthony and Calvin, but I’m going to try and do my best to fill their roles.”
