NITURA MAKES HISTORY AS ADAMSON’S FIRST UAAP MVP

ADAMSON University outside spiker Shaina Nitura is set to become the first Most Valuable Player from the school in UAAP women’s volleyball history, capping a standout season that powered the Lady Falcons back to the Final Four after a three-year absence.

The 21-year-old finished with 284 total points built on 248 attacks, 24 blocks, and 12 service aces, showcasing her all-around impact on both offense and defense.

Nitura, the Season 87 Rookie of the Year, also ranked among the league leaders across multiple categories—third in spiking efficiency at 38.15 percent, seventh in service with 0.26 aces per set, fourth in reception at 44.48 percent, and eighth in digging with 2.11 digs per set.

Her consistent production earned her the MVP plum with 98.511 statistical points (SP), finishing 16 points ahead of teammate Frances Mordi, who placed second with 82.766 SP.

Adamson now shifts its focus to the stepladder quarterfinals, awaiting the winner of the playoff between the University of Santo Tomas and Far Eastern University on Saturday.

Nitura is also poised to claim her first Best Outside Spiker award with 303 ranking points (RP), joined by De La Salle University’s Angel Canino, who secured the other outside hitter spot with 272 RP.

Canino’s strong campaign was anchored on a 39.06 percent spiking efficiency—second best in the league—and a 45.89 percent reception rate, third overall.

La Salle captain Shevana Laput will earn her second straight Best Opposite Spiker citation after finishing with 188 RP, highlighted by a 36.55 percent spiking success rate (sixth in the league) and 0.65 blocks per set (fifth overall).

The Best Middle Blocker awards remain unchanged for a second straight season, with La Salle’s Amie Provido (206 RP) and University of the Philippines’ Niña Ytang (181 RP) retaining their titles.

Provido led all blockers with 43 total blocks and a league-best 0.83 average per set, while Ytang placed third with 35 total blocks and a 0.67 average.

Ytang is also set to complete a record fourth consecutive Best Middle Blocker selection, finishing as the highest-scoring middle blocker with 172 points from 126 attacks, 35 blocks, and 11 aces.

Adamson’s Fhei Sagaysay will be named Best Setter, while National University’s Shaira Jardio will take Best Libero honors to complete the major individual awards.

Sagaysay tallied 247 RP, highlighted by 4.94 excellent sets per set (second best) and a league-leading 22 aces at 0.47 per set.

Jardio, meanwhile, topped the defensive charts with 238 RP after leading both digging (3.96 per set) and reception (58.54 percent efficiency).

Sam Cantada will be named Rookie of the Year after finishing sixth in statistical points with 66.786. She ranked second in aces (0.41 per set), seventh in spiking (35.36 percent), and seventh in reception (37.9 percent).
