GRADE 8 students of the National Academy of Sports bagged gold medals in Taekwondo in the 2023 National Online Poomsae Championships organized by the Philippine Taekwondo Association.

Caleb Angelo Calde won in the Individual Cadet Male and Pair Cadet Black categories while Valerie Chriselle Oglayon won in the Individual Cadet Female Black category.

Oglayon shared that she was confident while she was playing the game.

“Tinitingnan nila ang presentation at accuracy ng bawat galaw at binibigyan ng puntos batay sa aming speed, power, rhythm, tempo, and expression of energy. Kaya naman pagdating sa competition, confident kami maglaro,” Oglayon said.

“Ako po ay sobrang nagalak dahil ako po ay nanguna laban sa 20 participants na dumalo at ang iba pa po roon ay mula sa national training pool,” she added.

Meanwhile, Calde said that the consistent support and motiviation of their coaches made them win.

“Hindi kami nahihirapan sa training kundi nag-eenjoy kami na gawin ang mga pagsubok sa training. Kaming lahat ay patuloy na nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat NAS Family,” Calde said.
