JERRICK AHANMISI INKS TWO-YEAR DEAL WITH MAGNOLIA

Rookie guard Jerrick Ahanmisi has finally inked a two-year contract with Magnolia Hotshots.

Two months after the Hotshots selected him as the 10th pick in the first round of the PBA Season 46 Rookie Draft, Ahanmisi’s agent Teddy Archer confirmed on Monday his commitment to the team.

No terms of the deal were disclosed yet.

The contract negotiations were more than two months in the making since the Hotshots drafted the former Adamson University stalwart.

Ahanmisi, younger brother of Alaska guard Maverick, played four seasons with Adamson University, making it to the Mythical Team in Season 81.

Despite not making it to the Final 4 in Season 82, Ahanmisi initially planned to return to the Soaring Falcons for his final season, however, due to the uncertainty regarding the upcoming UAAP season, he joined the Rookie Draft instead.

The former Adamson University standout established himself as one of the best shooters in the collegiate ranks, and coach Chito Victolero attested that as he described Ahanmisi as the ‘best shooter’ in this year’s Draft Class.

Moreover, he will join a loaded Magnolia backcourt that already includes Paul Lee, Mark Barroca, and Jio Jalalon.

It was also reported that the Hotshots also inked rookie free agent Loren Brill to a one-year contract on the same day.

Signing Ahanmisi and Brill meant the two rookies could start practicing with the team once the Hotshots begin with their 5-on-5 scrimmages.
