JAVI GOMEZ DE LIAÑO LEAVES FOR JAPAN TO JOIN IBARAKI ROBOTS
Former Gilas player Javi Gomez de Liaño will finally start his professional league career in Japan under the banner of Ibaraki Robots for B.League.
The 6-foot-4 forward left the country to join the squad yesterday afternoon as his departure was announced through Instagram stories.
The league kicked off last week and de Liaño will likely miss two more weeks of the tournament as he will undergo a mandatory 14-day quarantine before he can join his new club.
The former UP player will also join other Filipino imports in the mandatory quarantine; Dwight Ramos of the Toyama Grouses, and Kemark Cariño of Division 2’s Aomori Wat’s.
Nevertheless, Ramos and Cariño will make a debut one week earlier than de Liano around October 16 to 17 and the latter is set to see in action around October 23 to 24.
That means he will be against San-En at Kamisu Arena where Thirdy Ravena is currently teaming up with.
De Liano being the last Filipino import to enter the league is expected to gun Ibaraki this season and fill the void for the squad with its 0-2 win-loss standing.
