ISAHAYA CITY, JAPAN MAYOR WELCOMES PH TEAM ATHLETICS
Isahaya City, Nagasaki, Japan Mayor Yukishige Okubo has welcomed the Philippine Team Athletics.
Okubo visited the Philippine Team in the pre-Olympic training in the TransCosmos Stadium on Friday wherein Filipino-American Sprinter Kristina Knott is having her training.
Knott recently won the gold medal in the Southeast Asian Games women’s 200-meter run.
Edward Kho, Marketing Communications Director of Philippine Athletics Track and Field Association (PATAFA) and the Deputy Team Leader ng Athletics delegation of the Philippines in the Olympics said that instead of the athletes visiting the mayor, the local leaders have decided to visit the Team Pilipinas Athletics due to pandemic.
“Ito po ay isang munting pagpupugay lamang ng butihing Mayor para sa amin na kanilang mga panauhin. Kami rin po ay may ihahandog na munting pasasalamat sa Mayor at kanyang mga tauhan,” Kho said.
Meanwhile, Kho also asked Filipinos to support Knott and Ernest John Obiena for pole vault in their journey Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
“Kung maaari po sanang maisama sila sa kanilang mga panalangin na sana ang ating mga atleta ay manatiling ligtas mula sa banta ng COVID-19 at mabigyan ng lubos na pagkakataon na mailabas ang kanilang galing.”
